Chain of Custody
From January 2005, each Argyle Pink Diamond™ over a particular size was laser inscribed with a unique lot number and issued with an Argyle Pink Diamonds™ Gem Identification and Authenticity Document, delivering an important assurance on the chain of custody from the mine to the point of purchase, that the gem has always been in the care of Argyle Pink Diamonds™ and its trusted trade partners.
This certificate:

- – Assures the diamond has always been in the care of Argyle Pink Diamonds™ and its trusted trade partners
Gem Analysis Service
From January 2024, Argyle Pink Diamonds™ commenced a programme with renowned independent laboratory, Gemlab (Belgium) BV, to identify diamonds that exhibit characteristics corresponding to those present in diamonds from the Argyle Diamond Mine.
Where identified, Argyle Pink Diamonds™ will grade the diamond, inscribe a unique lot number, and issue an Argyle Pink Diamonds™ Gem Analysis Report.
This form of certification differs from diamonds issued with an original Argyle Pink Diamonds™ Gem Identification and Authenticity Certificate, which were sold through our secure chain of custody.
This certificate:
- – Identifies diamonds that “exhibit characteristics” corresponding to those present in diamonds from the Argyle Diamond Mine
- – Differs from diamonds issued with an original Argyle Pink Diamonds™ Gem Identification and Authenticity Certificate
- – Does not represent diamonds sold through the APD conflict free secure chain of custody
- – Was issued through an independent third-party diamond lab
For collectors and investors, this distinction is significant. Argyle Certified diamonds hold greater prestige, stronger resale value, and documented provenance, while Argyle Gem Analysis-certificated diamonds, though attractive and scientifically examined, are generally priced 40% – 60% lower due to their extreme abundance and uncertain chain of custody.
