It’s Showtime!

The 2025 Australian Barbie Doll Convention Shines with Silkstone Elegance and Argyle Pink Diamond Glamour

Michele Leonard (2025 convention committee)

3 argyle pink barbie dolls

Sydney was set to dazzle this August as the highly anticipated 2025 Australian Barbie Doll Convention returned with its 21st edition, themed “It’s Showtime!” Hosted from August 22–24 at the Pullman Sydney Airport Hotel, the event brought together collectors, designers, and fashion enthusiasts from across the world for a weekend of glamour, creativity, and pure pink perfection.

This year’s standout attraction? A breathtaking showcase of three exclusive Silkstone Barbie dolls, each adorned with custom-made Argyle pink diamond jewellery. Created in collaboration with the Australian Pink Diamond Trade Centre (APDTC), these dolls represent a historic fusion of couture fashion and investment-grade Australian gemstones.

The Silkstone Barbie line is known for its elegance and sophistication, crafted from a porcelain-like material, and styled with classic, vintage inspired fashion. But this trio takes luxury to an entirely new level. Each doll is paired with bespoke jewellery featuring official Argyle certified pink diamonds, from Australia’s premium pink diamond wholesalers, the Australian pink diamond trade centre. These diamonds are the rarest and most sought-after gems in the world. The result is a celebration of Australian heritage, artistry, and collectible excellence.

The first Barbie in the 2025 collection wears a sweeping silver and light-pink silk gown, designed by Clare Duncan, and complemented by a round cut Argyle pink diamond pendant, that glistens with timeless grace. The second dons a tailored gleaming pink cocktail dress complete with fur overcoat, designed by Eaki of Thailand, accessorized with a brilliant round Argyle diamond pendant, perfect for an elegant evening affair. The third Barbie stuns in a modern haute couture ensemble, designed by Rimdoll of Vietnam, completed by a matching necklace. All three dolls featuring vibrant pink diamonds sourced from the now closed Argyle Mine in Western Australia.

Each Argyle pink diamond has been certified, ensuring both authenticity and provenance. As APDTC’s creative director notes, “These are not just accessories, they are miniature heirlooms. Argyle pink diamonds are incredibly rare, and this Barbie collaboration brings their legacy to life in a totally new and unexpected way.”

The convention itself offered more than just a display of rare dolls. Attendees can enjoy a full weekend of activities, including presentations, workshops, collector showrooms, raffles, and a glamorous gala night. Craig Leonard CEO of APDTC was also at the event, offering attendees the opportunity to meet the artisan behind the doll-sized pink diamond creations.

Argyle pink diamonds have become globally renowned for their scarcity and investment value, having delivered double digit annual growth and record-breaking sales in recent years. Now, with the Argyle Mine closed permanently, their value, both financial and cultural, continues to rise. Pairing them with Barbie, one of the world’s most iconic fashion figures, creates a blend of nostalgia and prestige unlike anything seen before.

In a world where collectibles and luxury increasingly intersect, this collaboration is a shining example of how Australian creativity and craftsmanship can redefine both industries. Whether you are a seasoned Barbie collector or a fine jewellery enthusiast, the 2025 convention was an unforgettable event where timeless fashion meets one-of-a-kind sparkle.
